Tire service
Tire service consists of dismounting (removing the tires from the wheel), mounting and balancing the new tires. Inspecting the condition of the tires that were on the vehicle is very important — it reveals any other issues that would lead to rapid wear of the new tire. Correct tire pressure is essential, and every manufacturer specifies its own pressures for each tire size.
Tire repair is performed by cold vulcanizing or plugging. German tire experts consider tires that are 3 years old to be factory new, and tires up to five years old as new. The recommended service life of any tire is 6 years, with a maximum of 10 years (the general legal rule). Depending on tire quality this period can be shorter.
Tread depth is of course of great importance for any tire. This indicator shows the condition of the tires (winter tire indicators differ from summer tire indicators).
Replacing summer tires with winter tires and vice versa is required by law, but tire manufacturers state that summer tires must be replaced with winter tires when the outside temperature is below 7 °C.
