Oil and filter change
Engine oil and filter replacement on any vehicle is performed at a defined interval that depends on the manufacturer, the type of oil used and how the vehicle is driven.
On some vehicles oil replacement is done every 5,000 km the vehicle has driven, on others not until 40,000 km.
The motor oil that is replaced must match the oil specified by the manufacturer, because that oil has the prescribed viscosity and uses specific additives that are optimal for each vehicle.
The most commonly recommended interval for changing oil on most vehicles is once a year. The additives in motor oil weaken over time and the oil also absorbs moisture from the air, which again affects its viscosity.
Motor oil lubricates and cools the engine and is exposed to high temperatures and friction, which leads to the formation of greasy deposits that circulate through the system together with metal particles and end up in the oil filter. This is how the oil filter eventually becomes clogged.
